Opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Friday said that it would be very difficult for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to change the name of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
Speaking to media outside the Parliament House, he opposed the new taxes imposed by the PML-N government and said that new budget would bring unbeatable price hike in the country. He termed the new budget as anti-people.
Talking about the BISP, he said that it would not be an easy task for the PML-N government to change the name of the income support programme. “If the government tries to change the name of BISP, then it would face resistance in the National Assembly,” he said.
There were more beneficiaries of BISP in the Punjab rather in Sindh, he claimed.
Criticising the Punjab government, he said it had wasted Rs 55 billion on food programnmes. He said that the economic situation of the country was better during the PPP government. PPP provided relief to the masses by increasing salaries of pensions, he said.
To a question, Khursheed Shah said that the government has been receiving Rs 600 million on daily bases in terms of levies. He demanded to the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to raise voice against it.
He said that Shahbaz Sharif, who announced to lead the protest against load shedding, should remain in his protest camp at Minar-e-Pakistan till the elimination of power outage.
To another query, he said that NA speaker had asked the names from PPP for appointment of judges. Each name would be given by PPP and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), he added.
The opposition leader said that PPP would have no objection over the change of Sindh governor.
