Budget proposals hailed

People belonging to the business community‚ parliamentarians and analysts continue to hail the budget proposals for 2013-14.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Haroon Agar and other business community leaders including Siraj Kassem Teli and Haroon Farooqi have appreciated the welfare schemes announced in the budget. They appreciated the budget proposal for construction of Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway. Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Atif Aziz lauded the step to completely ending of the circular debt in two months and said it would improve the energy sector.

Analyst Fauzia Shahid welcomed the government’s decision to maintain the income support programme and enhancing its grant. Talking to Radio Pakistan, Minister of State Pir Aminul Hasnat termed the budget as balanced and said special focus had been laid to steer the country out of energy crisis.

Leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Sahabzada Tariqullah said the budgetary document appears to be good and hoped the government would achieve the set targets. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi terming the budget as realistic said inflation and deficit level would be reduced and the people will see the relief in the medium term.

Politician Chaudhry Jahfar Iqbal said the budget envisages several relief measures for the poor segment of the society. Minister of State for Education Balighur Rehman said the budget envisages several measures including internship and loans programme for the youth. Members belonging to the opposition‚ however‚ termed the relief measures as insufficient saying the government should have announced increase in salaries of government employees.
