Fire erupted at Azam Cloth Market late on Tuesday night and gutted cloth worth millions.
Short-circuiting caused the blaze that engulfed the first floor of the market. Rescue teams and seven fire brigade trucks reached the scene and brought the fire under control after two hours of hectic efforts. Rescue authorities said that unstable voltage and short circuiting owing to excessive electricity outages caused such blazes which were on a rise in the city.
