Passport and Immigration Director General (DG) Zulifqar Cheema on Tuesday said 768,000 passports had been prepared, which had ended the backlog.
“Fifty thousand passports of pilgrims had been sent to relevant stations,” he added.
According to a private TV channel, he said the Passport and Immigration Office had prepared 182,000 passports for overseas Pakistanis, adding that the office would issue passports against urgent fees within a week, adding that passports against normal fees would be issued within a month. He was of the view that steps were being taken to improve the performance of the Passport and Immigration Office.

I see. I had applied for a passport back in Dec 2012. Now 165+ days later, when I go to inquire about my passport, they tell me to check after a month – for the umpteenth time. A person outside the passport office tells me I can get my passport shortly if I pay him. The toll free helpline that has been set up to allow citizens to get updates about the status of their passport and was supposed to be available from 8am to 8pm on weekdays has been continuously engaged ever since I started trying on 15th May. I just tried it now several times in vain before commenting here.
Earlier today, I called the respected DG Passports himself and heaved a sigh of relief when the line got through. A lady – possibly his receptionist – picked up the phone, told me to call on the helpline that remains engaged, and disconnected the call.

you should have paid the person outside the pass port office and that would have gotten your passport by now. My advise is go back, pay that man and get your passport.
today when i visit to passport office karachi for inquiry of my application dated 17-01-2013 now 5 months later it was informed that contact after one month.

Go back to the office , pay some bribe and get your passport, that is the easy and fast way. If you chose not to pay the bribe, simply get in line and wait , it may take 6 months or longer. That is how it is not just here, but also in India and Bengladesh. Need to spend money to get your work done quickly. Good luck bhai.
DG Passport do nothing. Just talking to media and getting Shabash but on the ground people are still searching their passport even after 5 months or six months. I think media person just go to passport offices they will find the reality irrespect of big lies of DG passport that passport problem is resolved.

you right Mr Irfan, I was there in Pakistan till 17th of June, and my application submitted in early Feb, but still i was asked to wait for 2 more months. secondly, cheema sahib, said issue urgent passports on time and ordinary passport dont need our attention.
it's been 5 month for my ordinary passport that I submitted in feb'13 and I am still unable to get.

Alhamdullilah on June I Got My Passport. Early in the month after applying On 11 apr.
there is progress but the process should be much more quicker and the government should not spend a lot of its resources in just preparing passports.
plz bta dein passport ki duration 6 month krdi hai kia? kitne mahene mein passpord milega plz bta dein timing brhadi hai kia?
last month i applied in karachi for renew my passport they said it takes 2 month and on urgent basis it takes 1 month or 20 dayz… but m stil waiting :@
Passport crisis has been over hopefully. delivery time for urgent is one week and for normal it is 2 weeks for the persons who will apply after 10 July.

If u applied for an ordinary one you will get with in 30 to 35 days, if your application is urgent then u will get your passport with in 15 days…….. Thanks
