FAISALABAD – Police, on a tip off, raided a house and rescued a couple who had recently got married in a court and was illegally detained by the family of the bride. The rescued man, Omar Hayat, told Razaabad police that he married ‘A’ in a court against the wishes of the bride’s family and when her maternal uncle Zahoor came to know about their secret marriage, he kidnapped them and detained them in a house. He further said the bride’s family had hatched a conspiracy to kill them but the police came to know about the case, raided the house and recovered them.
Accused Zahoor said the couple was not married at all and Omar Hayat had lured his niece to run away from her house.
He added they had brought the couple back because they were living in a sinful cohabitation. Razaabad Station House Officer (SHO) Shahid Sarwar Alvi said they were investigating the case and would take action on the written complaint of the victim.
MOTORCYCLISTS ASSAULT TRAFFIC WARDEN: A traffic warden was injured after two motorcyclists assaulted him when he stopped them to give a challan ticket for rash driving. Traffic Warden Gulzar reported to Sargodha Road Police Station that he was discharging his duty at Punjab Medical College (PMC) Chowk when he spotted two men riding a motorcycle at a very high speed, jeopardising the lives of other road users.
He added that he stopped them at a traffic signal and asked them to show their driving licence and registration documents, but, instead of complying with the instructions, they attacked him just to avoid the traffic fine and escaped from the scene. Assistant Sub-Inspector Nasir said the police were tracking down the accused while the injured warden was taken to the Allied Hospital for treatment.
GIRL KIDNAPPED: Several people kidnapped a young girl, daughter of Akmal Khan of Chak No 202 RB. The father of the girl reported to Millat Town Police Station that his daughter was kidnapped by Zafar Iqbal and his unidentified accomplices who have kept her at an undisclosed location. The complainant feared his daughter would be raped by the accused while the police were unable to have a clue to the kidnappers.
MISSING BOY FEARED KIDNAPPED: A 19-year-old boy, missing from his house since February 26, was feared to be kidnapped by a criminal gang.
Anees reported to the Jhang Bazaar police that his younger brother Ali Raza left home on February 26 and, after his departure, the family had no information about his whereabouts.The complainant feared that the boy had been trapped by a kidnapping for ransom gang, but no one had contacted the family with the demand of money so far.
GROOM GOES MISSING AT WEDDING NIGHT: A Dubai-based Pakistani who came home for his marriage disappeared from his house under mysterious circumstances on the first night of his wedding. Ghulam Abbas, a resident of Chak No 275 RB Dijkot, has been missing from his house since Mrach 2, the day he brought his bride to his house.
The family of the missing groom apprehended that he might be kidnapped by some unknown gang.
THREE TRANSFORMERS STOLEN: The thieves, posing as Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) employees, hit three different locations of the district and took away electricity transformers, sinking the respective colonies into darkness.
The FESCO sources said the first incident took place in Dhudiwala area in the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station where unknown thieves removed the transformer, loaded it into a six-wheel truck and drove away, saying they were going to replace the faulty unit with the new one, but they never returned. Two more transformers were stolen from Chak No 110 GB under Sahianwala Police Station and Chak No 224 RB under Batala Colony Police Station.
