As many as three police officers involved in the escape of MNA Nawab Khan Wasan have been arrested.
The officers include a CIA in-charge, SHO (A-section) and investigation officer.
The newly-elected Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member National Assembly (MNA) Nawab Khan Wasan escaped from the court when an Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) in Khairpur cancelled his interim bail in a murder case on Saturday.
MNA Nawab Khan Wassan appeared before the ATC for confirmation of his interim bail that he was granted by the Sindh High Court, Karachi, 16 days back.
The judge of ATC Khairpur, Sayed Saeed Hassan, rejected his bail application and directed the police to arrest him. After rejection of his bail application, the people present there, said to be PPP activists, attacked the court room and damaged the furniture. The miscreants also attacked cops including ASP Masood Bangash.
During the violence, the PPP MNA managed to escape despite presence of a big contingent of police. The people alleged that police were involved in the escape of Nawab Wasan. The court issued arrest warrants of Wassan and directed the police to lodge a case against attackers on court under the law.
It may be recalled that a PML-F worker Abdul Wahab Morejo was killed on the spot while six workers including former taluka Nazim Khairpur, Tahir Imtiaz Phulpoto, Amir Morejo, Mashooq Ali, Mudasir Mughal, Fida Hussain and others suffered injuries at MumtazCollege polling station in a firing incident on May 11.
The murder case was registered against Nawab Khan Wasan.
After the escape of MNA Nawab Khan Wasan, the PML (F) activists under the leadership of former taluka Nazim Khairpur, Tahir Imtiaz Phulpoto, Amir Morejo, Mashooq Ali and others strongly protested against the Khairpur police.
