Nawaz, Fahim hand in nominations for PM slot

Nawaz Sharif, whose nomination papers for the prime minister’s election were submitted today, is set to become prime minister for the third time after his party secured simple majority in the newly-elected National Assembly.

His nomination was filed by Ishaq Dar, Tariq Fazal, Khawaja Asif and Abdul Qadir Baloch on Sharif’s behalf.

Moreover, Amin Fahim, who also submitted his nomination papers is the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) candidate for premiership.

Nomination papers of candidates for the premier’s election to be held on June 5 are to be filed by 2pm today.

Moreover, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) decided to extend its unconditional support to Sharif in the premier’s election and would not be fielding a candidate in the race.

According to a statement issued by the MQM on Monday, party chief Altaf Hussain endorsed a decision of the coordination committee to give support to Sharif as ‘a goodwill gesture’.

Although, nominations for the post by parties other than the PML-N and PPP are yet to be filed, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) is likely to propose Javed Hashmi for the slot.

The prime minister’s election will come two days after the election of PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq and Murtaza Javed Abbasi to the posts of speaker and deputy speaker of the assembly respectively.

  1. That would be a mere formality. Mr. Nawaz sharif will be the PM of Pakistan for a term of five years provided he did not not take any punga.

  4. Choti Tind tay Wadi Tind will sweep up what little Mr 10% has left behind in country's khazana. If any one has any objections to my comment then please explain what happened to the campaign Nawaz & Shabaz started "Qarz utaro mulk sanwaro" where thousands of overseas Pakistani's lost Millions. Will they be compansated?
