Re-polling at 21 polling stations in NA-46, Khyber Agency will be held on June 5, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Earlier, the ECP had announced postponing re-polling at 21 polling stations in NA-46, Khyber Agency, on May 25 and decided to hold re-elections on the said polling stations on June 5.

After receiving complaints of rigging and mismanagement from candidates, the ECP on May 15 had announced re-election on 21 polling stations in NA-46 on May 25, but then decided to postpone re-polling to June 5.

The district returning officer, who is also political agent of Khyber Agency, had sought extra time for holding re-polling and had proposed June 5 as re-election day.

Of the 57 polling stations, votes were cast at 38 polling stations on May 11. Election was suspended on the rest of 21 polling stations when the voters and candidates disappointed by incorrect voter lists and mismanagement attacked and vandalised the polling booths.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commissioner (KP) Sonu Khan Baloch on Saturday said re-elections at 21 polling stations of NA-46 would be conducted on June 5, while re-polling at NA-38 would be held after establishing law and order.

Talking to reporters, Baloch said all arrangements had been finalised to hold re-polling at 21 polling stations of NA-46 Khyber Agency.

He said elections in NA-38 constituency could not be held due to worsening law and order. He, however, added that polls would be held as soon as law and order was improved.
