The Capital Development Authority (CDA) lost Rs 300 million of funds for development projects in the current fiscal year’s budget due to the concerned contractors and officials’ negligence.

According to reports, the work pace on Parliament Lodges and heliport extension projects was very slow during the last year, but the CDA did not take any action against the contractors, and so the budget allocated for these projects could not be utilised.

The authority had requested the cabinet division to release the funds for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP)’s Kashmir Highway Project, as contractors’ bills amounting to millions of rupees contractors were still due. The cabinet division rejected the CDA’s request.

Further, the CDA could not get the fourth quarter installment of its development budgets and the last installment of the Maintenance Grant totalling Rs 81 million.
