LAHORE – Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has rescheduled the country wide “Istehkam-i-Pakistan Sunni Conference” for April 17 at Minar-i-Pakistan. “March 23 is the day of Cricket World Cup’s quarter final, therefore we have readjusted our program,” announced SIC Chairman Fazl-i-Karim in a press conference on Monday at the Lahore Press Club. Fazl told the media that SIC will protest on Friday against the rise in price level and expected release of Raymond Davis. He asked the government to ‘grill’ Raymond.
While responding to a question about MMA’s revival, Fazl said that MMA had promoted militancy in the country therefore SIC’s inclusion in it was out of question. He suggested that the prime minister should call All Parties Conference for greater understanding on the issue of terrorism. He condemned the murder of Shahbaz Bhatti and termed the incident as a conspiracy against Islam and Pakistan. During the press conference, Fazl-i-Karim was flanked by 17 people including Pir Mahfooz Mashadi, Atherul Qadri, Syed Abid Gardaizi, Nawaz Kharal, Ziaul Haq Naqshbandi.
