Former member of the UK’s House of Commons, Chaudhry Sarwar, is likely to replace Wajid Shamsul Hasan as Pakistan’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership held a meeting with Sarwar and offered him the post of Pakistan high commissioner to UK, according to media reports.

Pakistan-born Sarwar was the first Muslim member of the British parliament and was elected thrice as member of the UK’s House of Commons.

Sarwar is considered a close associate of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.

According to sources, Chaudhry Sarwar was also offered the post of Punjab governor.

  1. This is extremely bad news and an unwise decision. I have not minced my words here. He is disliked by the vast majority of British Pakistani population. He also holds some fairly entrenched views about the Caucasian population which is not good for UK- Pakistan relationship.

Pakistan must appoint career diplomats in China, UK, USA, Germany, Spain, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

    • "He also holds some fairly entrenched views about the Caucasian population" – Can you expand on this? Any examples or web links?

  2. Is he not a dual national….? How can a dual national be appointed in such a sensitive post….

  3. This is great news. Sarwar is a man of substance and action. He can hit the ground running and deliver for Pakistan in a way that no other Pakistani can. After his tenure as HC he should be the President of Pakistan

  4. don't we have some career diplomat for the job. why such political appointments in sensitive places like UK USA and KSA????????
