A division bench of Peshawar High Court on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned to block blasphemous material on social media.
A two-member bench, consisting of PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad and Justice Qaiser Rashid, ordered the authorities concerned to take immediate measures to block disputed material on social media.
The court also issued notices to the concerned officials of the Interior Ministry, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and other authorities concerned seeking detailed replies within 20 days.
The court passed these orders on a petition filed by a local lawyer Arif Khan.
The chief justice observed that anti-Islam material on social media provoked religious sentiments, which could cause chaos in society.
