A senior lawyer and his two teenage sons were killed in an early morning attack in Karachi, as violence claimed four other lives elsewhere in the city since midnight, officials said on Tuesday.
Advocate Kausar Saqlain Abbas left home in his car to drop his two sons at a school near Tower when armed attackers ambushed his vehicle on Maripur Road at around 8:30am.
The attackers fired multiple shots on the vehicle and managed to flee, killing the two kids – 14-year-old Muhammad Aun Abbas and 12-year-old Muhammad Owais Abbas – on the spot, while Abbas himself was critically injured in the head and chest.
Police and rescue teams shifted him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police said it was an incident of targeted killing. Abbas was an advocate in Sindh High Court and a member of Karachi Bar Council (KBC).
Meanwhile, the KBC and Sindh Bar Council condemned the murders and boycotted proceeding of courts in SHC and Malir District Court.
