PESHAWAR – At least five militants were killed in a clash with security forces in border region of Swat Valley, the officials said on Sunday. They said a group of militants attempted to enter Swat when security forces intercepted them near Barikot Town on late Saturday night. Three of militants killed were identified as Sher Ali son of Wazir Zada resident of Aboha Swat, Mohammad Zaib son of Sherin of Mangalthaan Charbagh Swat and Fazal Hussain son of Omar Hussain of Kotha Barikot.
The officials said they also recovered a suicide jacket and high intensity explosives from militants.
The officials believe that militants were escaping Mohmand Agency military offensive. “The militants are now trying to regroup in Swat Valley”, they said. Security forces have beefed up security on borders of Swat, Dir and Malakand region. During last two months forces have killed more than 12 militants during their bid to enter Swat.
