Fingerprint verification: Caretaker PM orders release of Rs90 million for NADRA

Caretaker Prime Minister, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has ordered the release of Rs90 million for the NADRA to build fingerprint verification software to match thumbprints of voters.

On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered NADRA to develop software for fingerprint verification as soon as possible.

NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik said it will take two weeks to develop the fingerprint verification software, adding that a summary of the software and hardware cost has been sent to the caretaker government.

According to the NADRA Chairman, the new software will be developed in integration with the Civil Fingerprint Automated Identification System and will be upgraded to verify at least 500,000 finger prints per day.
