Shahbaz reveals election expenses

Former Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Monday filed the report of his electoral expenses to the returning officer.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had asked the provincial Election Commissioners to receive reports about returns of election expenses from winning candidates of National and provincial assemblies by May 21.

The ECP is expected to issue notifications of the winning candidates on May 22.

Media reports said that the ECP had imposed an electoral expenses limit of one million rupees for Provincial Assembly (PA) candidates and 1.5 million for National Assembly (NA) candidates.

Shahbaz Sharif filed his returns for one NA and two PA constituencies on Monday.

As per returns details, Mian Shahbaz Sharif spent Rs 513,000 in PP-161, Rs 465,000 in PP-159 and Rs 613,000 in NA-120.

 

‘ACCEPT THE MANDATE’: Former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Provincial President Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Monday asked protesting political parties to accept the public’s mandate as they were rejected for mismanagement during their tenure at the residence of Member National Assembly (MNA) elect Afzal Khokhar.
Sharif said that the defeated parties should prepare themselves for the next elections and win the masses’ hearts by serving them dutifully as the opposition.
He asserted that PML-N had chosen not to waste time in accusations and political leg pulling. They would utilize the next five years for the country’s betterment.
The PML-N leader thanked the masses for reposing confidence in his party and assured them that all available resources would be utilised to rid Pakistan of the prevailing crises.
Commenting on President Zardari’s visit to Lahore, Shahbaz said that he had the right to move across the country and hold meetings with political leaders.
