Chinese company shows interest to invest in K-IV project

Famous Chinese company, China International Water and Electric Corporation, Pakistan (CIWEC), which is working on eight important mega projects in Pakistan, has shown keen interest to invest in a water supply project “K-IV” of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
General Manager of the company, Li Zhili and Assistant GM Ms. Dongwenging met with the Managing Director Water Board Misbahuddin Fareed in Islamabad, said a statement issued by KWSB here on Sunday. The MD Water Board informed that the work on K-IV has already been started with the approval of ECNEC and the government.
The first phase of the project will be completed within four years, which Misbahuddin said, will be the largest project of its nature in the South Asia region. He said that on completion the project will help to cater the needs of the Karachi for 30 years as it will supply 650 million gallons per day (mgd) of water to Karachi which will be an increase of 1200 cusecs.
The metropolis’ immediate need is 400 million gallons per day (mgd) of water, the MD Water Board added. He said that the project will prove to be an important milestone in the development of Karachi and Pakistan. Li Zhili told the MD Water Board that he will convey the details of the projects to the parent company of CIWEC. His company has a deep interest in K-IV and wants to execute it through best available practices and standards, he added. The MD Water Board also briefed the CIWEC about the details of the S-III project of water sewerage. Later, the MD KWSB presented the Chinese company officials the traditional gift of Sindhi Cap and Ajrak.
