The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a press release on Saturday directed all independent candidates to submit an affidavit stating that they were joining a particular party voluntarily, without any coercion.
The affidavit should be duly sworn before the Oath Commissioner and deposited with the provincial election commissioner or the ECP coordination deputy director at Pakistan Secretariat, Islamabad. For the candidates’ convenience, they may submit their declarations in the ECP Secretariat too.
All successful candidates were also directed to file their Returns of Election Expenses latest by 20th May with the concerned Returning Officers. Candidates to be elected for women and minorities reserved seats shall also file their Returns of Election Expenses.
Any candidate failing to do so will not be included in the official gazette.
