The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered to halt the financial recovery being made from Punjab University (PU) Additional Treasurer Jamil Anjum after his promotion orders were taken back by the PU syndicate.
The court called for a detailed report on his demotion to a lower rank after nine years.
The petitioner through his counsel Mian Jaffer Hussain pleaded that the petitioner was promoted as the additional treasurer in 2005 but all of a sudden, PU Syndicate, on the direction of Public Accounts Committee, withdrew his promotion after a lapse of nine years without any lawful authority and plausible reason. It was further argued that prior to the reversion order and recovery of all availed financial benefits, neither a show-cause notice nor any explanation was served to the petitioner which was mandatory under the rule.
Justice Shahzada Mazhar after hearing the detailed arguments advanced by Jaffer stopped the recovery and sought a detailed report
