The Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Nazriyati) on Tuesday accused the caretaker government and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of massive rigging in the polls held on May 11.

It also rejected the electoral results of constituencies NA-259 and NA-268 indicating that conditions in Balochistan were turning worst.

Addressing a news conference at the National Press Club, Maulvi Abdul Qadir Luni, the JUI-N central secretary general – flanked by Maulvi Salahuddin, Habibullah Kakuzai and Zubair Anjum – said the results in Balochistan could further deteriorate the situation.

To a question, the JUI-N leader said his party was driven back in the polls because of its complete support for Mullah Omar of Afghanistan, admitting that the JUI-N completely supports Mullah Omar.

Without naming the intelligence agencies, Luni alleged that a massive rigging had taken place during the elections, and the JUI-N candidate was intentionally deprived of the seats in parliament through a planned conspiracy.

He said the people stood with the JUI-N, however, “it were the agencies that caused our defeat”, adding that the ECP’s tall claims had failed.

“A dangerous game had been played in Balochistan which would turn the situation in the province even worse,” he added.

Luni said some specific groups and parties were given a free hand in Balochistan, and the government institutions were backing them.

Rejecting the electoral results for NA-259 and NA-268, the JUI-N leader demanded re-polls in both the constituencies.

He said nationalist and religious parties were involved in rigging in collaboration with the district returning officers, returning officers, police, the Frontier Constabulary and other administrative institutions, “of which we have the evidence”.

Demanding the ECP announce re-polls in the constituencies, Luni warned of province-wide series of protests, adding that the protests would be staged outside important government infrastructures including the ECP building.

“The responsibility of any unpleasant situation,” JUI-N leader threatened, “will then lie on the shoulders of those agencies and government institutions that were responsible for rigging in the polls”.

He said the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) had been fully active in the province during the current polls, adding that the JUI-N had complete evidence of it.
