LAHORE – Urging religious scholars to consider the reservations being expressed over the blasphemy law, MQM chief Altaf Hussain Friday said parliament was the only available forum to debate and amend the laws.
Addressing a gathering jointly organised by Defence Clifton Residents Committee and the Council of Professionals, Altaf said every citizen of the country enjoyed equal rights and those resorting to terrorism in the name of Islam were defaming the religion.
He said the MQM had warned the nation about the threat of Talibanisation some years back. Asking the audience if anybody could help him in interpreting the term blasphemy, he said many Pakistanis did not understand the true meaning of blasphemy.
