Afghan and Pakistan troops exchanged fire on Monday at a contested border area in eastern Afghanistan days after an Afghan border policeman was killed, Afghan officials said.
Two senior officials from Nangarhar province where the clash took place told Reuters that fighting resumed after Pakistani troops attempted to repair a gate damaged in the previous clash.
The clash on Thursday, in the border district of Goshta, drew nationwide condemnation in Afghanistan, and saw protests in the east and in the capital, Kabul.
An Afghan border policeman was allegedly killed and two Pakistani soldiers were wounded in the clash.
Last September, Afghanistan sent extra troops and artillery to the border with Pakistan as tensions rose over a spate of cross-border shelling that allegedly killed dozens of Afghan civilians.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai said he hoped the clash would not escalate.

Read "Mera Pakistan" comment above and you will know what Punjabi mentality is. I grew up in Pakistan and can tell you that Punjabi establishment has an ill will towards Pukhtons for ever. They will never want Pukhtons to have education and know their rights and demand for it. When ever you talk of your rights, they will start throwing emotional cards of patriotism and hyper nationalism just to exploit Pukhtons' simple nature.
