The residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad called on the district authorities on Friday to ban the use of loudspeakers, particularly around schools, colleges, hospitals and places of worship, calling it a violation of the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) code of conduct.

The citizens said that since the announcement of election dates and candidates, the twin cities have been flooded with political posters, banners and stickers, in addition to the excessive use of loudspeakers fitted in vehicles and at election camps.

They maintained that loudspeakers usage should only be allowed between 6 am and 10 pm, at a low volume. They also condemned the playing of film songs at election camps and personal attacks on rival candidates by politicians via loudspeakers.
