At least 11 militants were killed when they attacked a security forces checkpost in Ladha area of South Waziristan on Friday.
One security forces personnel was also killed in the attack.
An official in Wana, headquarters of South Waziristan, said a group of militants attacked the checkpost in Ladha with modern and sophisticated weapons to which the security forces retaliated. He said one soldier and 11 militants were killed in the attack and the checkpost was also damaged.
He said the security forces later went on a door-to-door search in the area and arrested several suspects.
The security forces recently cleared Ladha region, the Mehsud tribe dominated areas, of South Waziristan of militants.
