Former president Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday said blaming him for the murder of Benazir Bhutto was totally wrong.
In an exclusively interview to a private TV channel, the former army chief said Benazir was listening to a phone call just before being killed and that phone was found two years later.
“A man named Khalid Shahansha was standing near her car and was behaving suspiciously. He was murdered in Karachi, and I heard that after Khalid’s murder, another man was murdered who had reportedly killed Khalid,” Musharraf said.
He said he proved everyone who said he would not return wrong. “I didn’t come back to Pakistan for my self, but for Pakistan and for the poor citizens of Pakistan. Had I thought about myself, I would have stayed away.”
Musharraf said the people did not trust the past government. “The real power is with the people, who have woken up and will bring change in the country.”
To a question, he said the drone attacks began in his government, but “we kept control over them and only nine attacks were carried out in my four years in the government.
“Now more than 500 drone attacks have been carried out in the tenure of the previous regime, it is not my fault, they should have controlled them as we did,” he said.
The former president said during his government, no one dared speak against Pakistan.
He said Karachi was the city of lights, and it was not his fault if it was now engulfed in problems.
“Why are they blaming me for all the bad things that have occurred, this is all due to the poor performance of the previous government.”
“During my government, dollar was at Rs 60 mark, now it is beyond Rs 100, I uplifted a defaulted state, now poverty is increasing by the day,” he said.
To a question, Musharraf said he had never wanted to hang Nawaz Sharif.
“I never wanted that. The court gave him punishment and later turned it into life imprisonment.”
Musharraf said Shah Abdulallh of Saudi Arabia later told him that Nawaz wanted to go Saudi Arabia and he agreed to let him go.
The former president said two forces were out to disintegrate Pakistan, one was the old mindset that exploited Islam and the other elements that did not wish to see Pakistan in one piece.
“If we do not prevail, the future of Pakistan will be in danger.”
To a question on Kargil, Musharraf said the Indian government was asking the US president to pressurise then PM Nawaz Sharif to withdraw forces from Kargil, because Indians had lost 1,700 men. “Thus the army’s victory turned into a political defeat,” he said. “I am happy on Kargil and army should be too.”
Musharraf said siding with the US after 9/11 attacks was the right decision according to his understanding.

Musharraf is 100% correct. All the people directly involved in BB's murder are gone. The people indirectly involved in her murder ruled the country for the last five years. If the stupid woman, who was given highest security by Musharraf's govt, had not stuck her head out she would still be alive. In my opinion the mistake Musharraf made was to let the Sharif family alive after coup. Maybe because Musharraf is a nice guy. I would hung those sum bags on a pole. This nation is so unfortunate to not be able to recognize what a true patriot Musharraf was (still is). maybe Pakistanis deserve to be whipped and ruled by the likes of zardari and nawaz. Oh well. Mr Musharraf 's net worth is Rs 645 million according to his own declaration with ECP.
Did he pay taxes to govt of Pakistan ?
He did not show any foreign accounts and properties in his declaration.
How he was able to make this kind of money in the last thirteen yrs?
To me he is as corrupt as any other politician in Pakistan unless proven otherwise.

The tone of your language clearly shows you are biased. You have a right to ask, did you ask Zardari and Nawaz shareef. They showed faked documents of their wealth and its ok with you I guess as they might your heros. Pervaz Musharraf got his pension and the taxes are deducted at source so he is paying taxes. What he earned outside Pakistan he did not have to pay taxes in Pakistan. His get a handsome amount for his lectures in dollars. He has delivered lectures most of them in States, in Europe, and even in India. Seventy eighty thousand dollars per lectures and in Pakistan rupees that amounts to what he states in his election document. He also received the royalty for his book which was best sellers for six months. If Musharraf has a good accountant then he would have invested his money in good place which is growing by day. I hope you are now satisfied and go and take a look in his application where he showed 645 million rupees if you have not seen it you will find your answers. Let us enlightened about Nawaz assets as well.

He just declared this .other assets would be 5 to 10 times more of it what they declare on papers.No Musharraf lovers is going to answer this reply that from where these dictators come billion dollar assets, specially those who facilitate war in our region.
It is not his hands but he is on the whole ditch into this murder as a state ruler when she was executed in city of GHQ.He was luck that Zardari like greedy was husband of Bhutto and like other Pakistani husbands he favored the murder of his rich and influential llife and become president of Pakistan.So one can say Zardari and Musharf both worked side by side to kill Bhutto.
Agreed Mushrraf,Zardari & the greatest concipirer & laiar Rehman Malik are responsible for Benazir murder as when Musharrf was in power Reman Malik was the main negotiator with Mushrraf for bringing Benazir to Pakistan.
Again I would say both rehman malik and Zardari were choices of Bhutto.She picked Zardari as his life partner at very mature age.She was family wise close with rehman malik and had business ventures with him so lady scorpion has venomous spiders in her circles and they stung him it is not our fault.

He is intelligent, well caculated person but not good for islam. He is a very good speaker and strategist but pro american person and pro american person can harm pro islam activties like tableegh and ideology of islam. He will use taliban word as his weapon as benazir’s photo was being used for baggery. Remember he is the creator of pakistan tehreek e taliban who later on became his rival because foreign funded tehreek was left orphaned by mushrraf after acheiving his goals.
