The Punjab Teacher Association (PTA) has said that no compensation had yet been announced for the teachers who would work on polling stations on the day of elections.
The PTA has demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to provide some remuneration to the teachers for this extra work. PTA leaders Chaudhry Yaseen, Dawood Khan and Zahid Sarfaraz said the duty of teachers would start early in the morning and would continue until 7 in the evening but yet no extra payment for their work had been announced by any quarter concerned.
“We will absent ourselves from the duty on the day of elections if no remuneration is announced for our work,” they added.
