Acting Federal Ombudsman Salman Farooqi on Monday presented a 400-page report to Prime Minister Justice (r) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on the recent measles and polio related death cases among children.
The report which was compiled by the Federal Ombudsman was presented amid concerns expressed by the prime minister over increasing cases of deaths among children, especially in Punjab, due to the recent outbreak of measles.
The prime minister directed the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) to forward the report to provincial governments so that they could remedial measures.
The prime minister expressed his concern over the growing cases of measles among children and expressed confidence that the provincial governments would take urgent remedial measures to check its outbreak.
Salman Farooqi briefed the premier on the salient features and findings of the report and its recommendations to control the situation.
During the meeting, a proposal for holding a national and regional conference to discuss ways to control the recent outbreak in the country was also considered.
