The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Monday resumed the hearing of the case regarding unscheduled electricity load shedding across the province and ruled the power load shedding must not exceed eight hours.

The petitioner informed the court that the masses were facing over 20 hours of power load shedding.

The court observed that all the departments concerned should take steps to overcome the power crisis. The court also ordered that that electricity load shedding period should not exceed more than eight hours a day.

Earlier, the LHC summoned the Ministry of Water and Power’s joint secretary for April 22 on a petition against unscheduled load shedding.

The CJ directed the joint secretary to inform the court about residential areas exempted from load shedding.

On Friday, the ministry’s counsel sought more time saying Joint Secretary Zargham Shah was busy at a cabinet meeting.
