Doctors had to cancel many operations during last two days due to the shortage of anaesthetic gas, nitrous oxide, in the Allied Hospitals of Rawalpindi on Thursday and Friday.

In-charge of the Allied Hospitals, Prof Dr Umer said that the desired quantity of gas could not be produced in the gas plant due to excessive electricity load shedding.

“Therefore, administrations of the allied hospitals had been advised to carry on only emergency and extremely necessary operations,” he added.

He said doctors did not take risk doing big operations in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) the other day because of the same reason. He said the operation would be carried on a routine basis as the situation got better.
