Pakistan’s Secretary of Defense Lieutenant General (r) Asif Yaseen Malik on Wednesday blamed New Delhi for playing a ‘double game’ with Islamabad.
Addressing a conference on Security and Strategic Situation in south Asia, Malik said on one hand there are efforts for increasing people-to-people contacts while on the other hand India is making deliberate attempts to deprive Pakistan from essential water resources.
Malik also said India was responsible for failure of several rounds of comprehensive strategic dialogue between the two countries, adding that despite being close to agreeing on disputed issues, there was no progress.
He said Pakistan is facing a number of internal and external security threats, adding that extremism and militancy is the biggest threat the country faces.
Malik said US forces will complete their withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014 but the Afghan government is perplexed over the post-withdrawal situation.
Pakistan employs wrong people at the wrong position. An army man, in-charge of Ministry of Defence discussing water issues and then complaining.
