Pakistan’s T20 captain, Muhammad Hafeez has showered words of praise on his Test and one-day captain Misbah-ul-Haq, describing him as an “honest” person and a “calm and composed” leader.
While Hafeez replaced Misbah as the national T20 captain last year in May, Misbah continued to remain Pakistan`s Test and one-day captain.
Recently, a controversy was ignited by the former Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ijaz Butt who claimed that Hafeez had formed a nexus with head coach Dav Whatmore in the team and they were pressurising Misbah and trying to oust him from the team.
But Hafeez was all praise for Misbah, saying it had been an honour playing under him.
“He is one of the best captains I have played under. We have played most of our cricket together for years now at the first class and international level. And Misbah has shown himself to be a honest, fair, dedicated, committed and very composed captain,” Hafeez told reporters in Karachi.
The all-rounder scored a match winning half-century to lead the Sui Northern Gas team into the final of the President`s Cup one-day tournament.
Hafeez said that no one had any problems with Misbah as he had shown himself to be a very honest, fair and committed leader.
“He equally deals well with the seniors and juniors and he is honest and forthright. His best quality is he remains calm and composed under all situations and there is respect for him in the team,” Hafeez added.
He made it clear that he had not found anyone as passionate and dedicated for cricket as Misbah.
Hafeez noted that it was a credit to Misbah the way he had adopted a positive approach after Pakistan lost the Test series in South Africa.
“He did well in the one-day series in SA and then also by winning the national T20 super eights title for Faisalabad Wolves,” he added.
