Gunmen open fire at NA-42 independent candidate

Pre-election violence continued on Monday as unknown gunmen opened fire on Abdur Rahim Khan, an independent candidate for NA-42.

According to details, two people were killed and three were injured in the firing.

Police official said that five persons belonging to South Waziristan were on their way to inaugurate Khan’s election office in village Islampura Tehsil Paharpur Dera Ismael Khan.  The party was boarding a motor car when it was ambushed by unknown militants, who fired at them, killing Roshaan Gul and Haji Walayat, while three others were injured.

Abdul Rahim Mehsud is contesting a National Assembly seat from Mehsud dominated areas of South Waziristan. Thousands of families in this part of South Waziristan have migrated to Dera Ismael Khan, Tank and other regions due to the volatile situation.

The Dera Ismael Khan Police has registered a case and started further investigations.
