Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday decided to expedite work for promotion of trade between Pakistan and United States of America through utilization of all available resources, including collection of data of tradable items, a strong liaison with the US ambassador and exchange of trade delegations. The decision was taken at a meeting of Pak-America Business Council, jointly addressed by LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and Convener of the Council Sheikh Muhammad Irfan. Honorary Consul of Spain Zaheer Islam, LCCI Vice Presibent Mian Abuzar Shad, former president Mian Muzaffar Ali and former senior vice president Malik Tahir Javaid also spoke on the occasion. The LCCI senior vice president urged the US ambassador to play his role for promotion of trade and economic activities between the two countries. He also sought his help for provision of civil nuclear technology to enable Pakistan to overcome energy shortage, citing that it would not only strengthen relations between two countries but also cement their economic ties. Pak-America Business Council’s Convener Sheikh Muhmmad Irfan appreciated US Consulate for keeping strong liaison with the LCCI. He said the US was a good market for Pakistani importers and exporters, therefore, the businessmen should tap this potential.
