Listen up, kids. When your teacher tells you that you’ll never amount to anything making dirty jokes, using swear words, or talking about bodily functions, just remind her of Judd Apatow. (OK, if there are any kids reading this, don’t actually do that.) But thanks to the fortune the 45-year-old has made producing, writing, and directing hit over-the-top comedies like “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Knocked Up,” and “Bridesmaids,” he just picked up a beachfront Malibu home for nearly $11 million. Apatow and actress wife Leslie Mann purchased their new pad for $10.82 million from the estate of the late “Pretty Woman” producer Laura Ziskin. The 1930s house had originally been listed for $10.95 million. The listing describes the home as a “contemporary cottage” and a “bungalow,” and it may not be as big as some of the mansions up the road on the fabled “Billionaire’s Beach,” but with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths spread out over 2,550 square feet, it would be plenty big for most of us. (Though most of us probably wouldn’t be able to afford a place that costs nearly $4,300 per square foot.) In addition a to a two-car garage and one-bedroom guest house, the main home feature a gourmet kitchen, open living room with fireplace, and a master bedroom with a wall of glass and patio leading out to the gated community’s private beach. Speaking of the beach, it’s the home’s amazing ocean views from most of its rooms and ample outdoor space – like expansive decks perched above the sand – that really amps up the property’s wow factor. When the Apatow clan, which includes Judd and Leslie’s two daughters, gets sick of sitting in the sun and staring out at the Pacific, they can retreat to their lush courtyard shaded by multiple trees. And if they’re looking to hobnob will fellow celebs, they’ve come to the right place. Jim Carrey, Stingand wife Trudi Styles, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, and Bruce and Laura Dern, are just some of the fellow stars who live in the neighborhood. We’d love to know what that block party looks like.
