PESHAWAR – At least 18 girls’ students and two others were injured when armed militants targeted the participants of a farewell party at the Government Girls Degree College Laund Khawar Mardan on Tuesday.
“Two militants riding on a motorbike first lobbed two hand grenades and then opened indiscriminate fire with pistols,” Mardan Police Deputy Inspector General Abdullah Khan said, adding three injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar in a critical condition.
The attack came as the farewell lunch in honour of intermediate final students was about to conclude and the students were busy in taking photographs. The militants managed to escape after the terror strike while police cordoned off the locality and started a search operation.
