South Sudan seeks ZTBL assistance to promote its agri sector

The head of visiting South Sudan delegation here on Thursday sought the assistance of Zarai Taraqiati Bank for the development of agriculture sector of the country.
In this regard a high level delegation comprising Joseph Kulang John Konga, Minister of State/Chairman Board of Investment, John Ijino Lako DG Ministry of Finance, Republic of South Sudan visited ZTBL along with other representatives here today.
According to a statement of the Bank issued here today, the purpose of the visit was to explore avenues and possible opportunities for the Sudan Govt. to get the expertise vis-vis consultancy in the area of Agricultural Technologies from ZTBL.
Afzal Sharif, Advisor on Business Development welcomed the delegation on behalf of the President ZTBL.
Sharif briefed the delegation that ZTBL the only financial institution of the Government of Pakistan engaged in the development of agriculture sector in the country.
Razia Begum, EVP (RP&T) gave a short presentation on ZTBL to the delegation which was followed by a brief talk by Naseer Parvaz Qureshi on the IT related developments made by ZTBL for agricultural credit.
Muhammad Shah Zaman, SVP, President Support Department briefed the delegation about the expertise available with the Bank and technical assistance/technology transfer which could be made available to South Sudan in the field of agriculture development.
Joseph Kulang John, while briefing the participants informed that Republic of South Sudan is the youngest nation in the world and came into being in 2011 after the division of Sudan into two countries by the United Nations.
Since South Sudan is in its infancy stages and need to help from the world for the development of institutions in almost all walks of life for development of the people in the country.
The purpose of visit to ZTBL is to explore areas of interest and how the South Sudan could utilize the services offered by the ZTBL for the development of agriculture sector.
He informed that we are on a fact finding mission in Pakistan and visiting various organizations/departments both in the public and private sector to find out areas of interest.
On their return to home country, the Govt. of South Sudan will send another detailed mission for the above mentioned purposes who will look into all possible areas of mutual cooperation, technical assistance & consultancy needs for the Republic of South Sudan.
He very warmly appreciated the ZTBL management for organizing the said meeting on a very short notice and lauded the services offered by ZTBL.
