A comprehensive Tuberculosis (TB) awareness campaign has been launched in the Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat to motivate the prisoners in favour of preventive measures against this infectious disease.
Senior Superintendent Jail Mohsin Rafiq Chaudhary said that Punjab TB Programme Director Dr Darkhasanda Badar delivered a comprehensive lecture on this widely prevalent lungs disease. The prisoners were briefed that TB was a curable disease and with preventive measures it could be kept at bay. Pamphlets were distributed among the 3,535 prisoners along with free-of-cost prevention kits. The doctor also addressed the 118 female convicts and prisoners. It may be mentioned here that 3,535 inmates are housed in the prisons against sanctioned strength of 1,053 persons.
