Public sector hospitals in the provincial capital are without maintenance and repair (MR) department due to which often burn incidents occur in the hospitals. This was stated by Dr. Salman Kazmi, leader of Young Doctors Association, on Thursday. He said that neither any proper MR department nor a bio-medical engineer was available in any hospital of the city. Two to three employees on daily wages were hired to look after the electro-magnetic equipment in hospitals, he said.
Dr Kazmi said there should be a proper MR department headed by a bio-medical engineer in every hospital to control fire incidents related to short-circuiting.
Responding to a question about the burn incidents in the hospitals, he said that 90 percent such incidents occurred due to non-existence of MR department but the management of any public sector hospital did not bother to set up a MR department to avert such incidents permanently.
