The patients and attendants have voiced their deep concerns over poor hygiene conditions and cleanliness arrangements in the kitchens of all wards in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

The attendants said that they were left with no option but to prepare food in the dirty and contaminated kitchens of the hospital. They said that the hospital management was senseless and careless as it knew about the prevalent situation but did not take any action in this regard.

The attendants said that doctors advise them to be careful about sanitation in hospital wards and rooms as it was very important for the recovery of patients but no one was paying attention to the poor sanitation in kitchens. They said that the kitchens were breeding places for the mosquitoes that spread malaria and dengue. Thus not only the patients but also the attendants were on the risk of getting ill of malaria or dengue.

The attendants demanded of high-ups of the hospital management to ensure sanitation of the kitchens, besides arranging regular fumigation.
