Lack of medical facilities and shortage of staff has caused Ammarpura dispensary to shutdown, adding to the misery of local patients.

The municipal dispensary was built by the Punjab government and was inaugurated in 1967 by the Rawalpindi commissioner.

The ECG machine and the labour room which was provided for by special funds approved by the chief minister of Punjab was also shut down and had nothing installed therein due to the non-availability of a doctor and relevant experts in the dispensary.

Due to lack of security arrangements, residents of the locality started parking their vehicles and motor cycles in the premises of the dispensary. This state of affairs had not only become a source of perpetual harassment for the female staff of the dispensary but was also causing embarrassment to the patients.

The residents demanded immediate hiring of staff and removal of the illegal parking from the dispensary.
