The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday expressed reservations over the neutrality of the caretaker Prime Minister Hazar Khan Khoso.
They were talking to reporters outside Imran Khan’s residence. JI chief Munawar Hasan, Secretary-General Liaquat Baloch and Dr Wasim Akhtar met PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Imran Khan said they had agreed on a seat-adjustment formula in Punjab during the upcoming elections. He said further they had formed a committee in this regard. The final approval of the committee’s recommendations would be forwarded to the leadership.
He said they discussed prevailing political situation, forthcoming elections and seat adjustment. He said the PTI stood by its decision not to enter into alliance with any party that was part of the outgoing governments in the Centre and in provinces.
Imran was of the opinion that fair elections were not possible in the presence of President Zardari as he would try his best to bring the PPP into power again. He blamed that the PPP and PML-N had an understanding and whenever the PPP was in trouble, the PML-N came to its rescue.
He said it was a matter of shame for the two parties that they had not reached an understanding for the caretaker chief minister in Punjab.
To a question, Imran said he had great regard for CEC Fakhruddin G Ibrahim, but they had reservations over the selection of Hazar Khan Khoso as caretaker PM in view of his past record. He said they accepted the ECP’s decision but would now allow anyone to rig the elections.
Hasan said they had reservations over the caretaker prime minister as there were many “zig zags” in his past record. He said meeting with Imran Khan was in continuation of earlier meetings and they had to complete the seat adjustments at a fast pace.
The JI chief said Imran had raised the flag to take country out of darkness and the JI too wanted an end to corruption and injustice.
