Beaconhouse stages ‘One Wife Too Many’

Lahore – ‘The Verve’, dramatics society of Beaconhouse School System, A level Gulberg Campus, staged their annual play, ‘One wife too many’, on February 24 and 25 at Alhamra Cultural Complex Hall No 1, Gaddafi Stadium. The play, written by Ray Cooney, an English playwright, is a comedy in two acts. The play was directed by Ijlaal Khan. The actors include Sohail (John), Arsalan Qaisar (Stanley), Tayyaba Waseem (Mary), Zareen Salman (Barbara), Musa Malik (Troughton), Nauma N Bashir (Poterhouse) and Ahmed Saleem (Bobby).
The story is about a taxi driver, John, who lives in England.
He has two wives; Mary and Barbara. With having two wives being illegal in England, John comes up with a white lie, in connivance with his neighbour Stanley, to hide his secret. The first performance was reserved for students while day two was open for outsiders as well. Many people from different walks of life attended the play and lauded students’ efforts.
