Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shaukatullah Khan has said that rehabilitation and development activities, alongside efforts for peace in FATA would go ahead simultaneously and the situation would further improve with the passage of time.
Talking to two separate delegations of Kurram and Orakzai Agency tribal elders at Governor’s House on Sunday, the governor also mentioned launching of natural gas supply project at Darra Adamkhel and pointed out, “It in fact the first initiative for the entire FATA which will lead to launch of similar schemes for other tribal agencies and frontier regions.”
The delegation of Kurram Agency, comprising of elders of Massozai tribe, led by former MNA Haji Munir Khan Orakzai, requested the governor for providing staff for the Sub-Treasury Office of the State Bank of Pakistan and establishment of a passport office at Sadda.
The elders of internally-displaced tribes, hailing from Ghiljo and other areas of Orakzai Agency who are currently housed in Alikhel, Hangu, Astarzai, Mithakhel and other parts of Hangu district sought Shaukatullah’s help in getting registration. They also requested to ensure their early repatriation and rehabilitation. The delegation was led by Wasi Saeed and Laiq Hussain.
Responding to various demands, the governor said that result-oriented efforts were underway to further streamline the ongoing arrangements for rehabilitation of internally-dislocated people of FATA.
As far as establishment of passport office and provision of staff for the Treasury Office at Sadda are concerned, the governor said that respective authorities would be approached in this regard.
Meanwhile, talking to different delegations of tribal elders and Youth from Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber and FR Peshawar, the governor said that a proposal to strengthen the vocational training institutes working in different tribal agencies, was under the active consideration and it was his utmost desire to equip youth of FATA with latest skills and technologies.
Similarly, he added, he had already taken initiative to enhance amount of merit scholarships for the students of higher secondary and higher educational institutions and hopefully formal announcement will be made shortly in this respect.
The tribal elders highlighted the prevailing situation with regard to maintenance of peace and launch of development activities in their respective areas and requested the governor to accelerate the process in this respect.
