Islamabad Police arrested 92 persons involved in street crimes during the current year and recovered 40 mobile phones and looted cash from their possession, a police spokesman said.
On the directions of IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, all police officials and Station House Offices (SHO) launched an aggressive campaign against those involved in street crime.
During the drive, he said Islamabad Police obtained a record of those people who were involved in street crimes and arrested 92 criminals.
During this year, Islamabad Police arrested 22 gamblers during various raids in the city and recovered stake money and other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from them. SSP Yaseen Farooq directed the police to ensure vigilance against street criminals, as well as suspects and make effective checking at all entry and exit points of the city. “It is our prime responsibility to ensure protection of the lives and property of the citizens,” he said.
“Those police officials who are negligent or adopting sluggish attitude would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them,” the SSP maintained.
