PESHAWAR – A local court of law Monday rejected bail application of Aaron Mark DeHeaven, a US national who was arrested under 14-Foreign Act by the security forces at Peshawar some four days back.
Civil Judge Qudrat Ullah Marwat after hearing arguments in favour and against of the plea, remarked that Heaven’s visa had already expired and he should have left Pakistan.
Earlier Ali Raza Attorney of Aaron Mark DeHeaven pleaded before the court that DeHeaven has already submitted application before the concerned quarters for extension in his stay. In this respect, he presented some documents before the court. Raza is likely to submit another application before the district and session judge Peshawar on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a Construction Engineer namely Sarfaraz also approached the courts for the reimbursement of his arrears from DeHeaven. Sarfaraz told reporters in judicial complex that he was associated with DeHeaven a couple of years back but was sacked by him on August 31, 2008. In principle, DeHeaven was bound to pay him two months salary but he did not. He had knocked at the doors of Labour Tribunal, which had announced the decision in his favour, directing the US national to pay him RS 100,000 which DeHeaven was yet to pay.
The US embassy in Islamabad said Saturday that consular representatives had met DeHaven, “as they would with any private American citizen”. The US national has been residing in Peshawar for a long and is engaged in construction of security systems. His wife, a Peshawari, is serving in an international organization.
