PPP MNA from Muzaffargarh Jamshed Dasti on Friday announced his decision to resign from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Talking to reporters, he said he would take part in the next general election as an independent candidate.
“I have decided to resign from the PPP. I have not applied for a party ticket,” he said.
Dasti said only 1,200 people turned up at a public meeting held by Yousaf Raza Gilani and Hina Rabbani Khar here on Friday.

There could be a few reasons behind his resignation: (a) He was not going to get a party ticket (b) He made enough money during his tenure as a minister that he could affort to run as an independent candidate thinking that if he wins, he would put a price on his loyalty to whichever party is going to form a government. So, it is a business case for him.
I hope he runs against Hina Khar.

MNA or MPA or anyone who left PPP, never gained as much fame and respect as when they were in PPP. This lesson is for the candidates of future elections.
Nobody in the PPP has any respect. They are as crooked as they come. He will feel at home in both PPP and PML as they are both parties of looters and crooks
