The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) said on Monday that it would start a hunger strike to protest against the anti-CNG policies of the government.
“The hunger strike would be established near Blue Area’s Kulsoom Plaza at 12 pm while a press conference would be held at 4 pm,” said an APCNGA statement.
“All the office bearers and members of the APCNGA would participate in the hunger strike,” it added.
“We are protesting against the anti-CNG policies of the government, unjust gas distribution, 5-day gas load shedding for CNG sector in Punjab and continuous discrimination by the authorities,” said APCNGA Supreme Council Chairman Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha,.
“Government has deprived the masses of a facility of economical transportation and has destroyed investment of around Rs 400 billion,” he said.
He said that all the policies were being framed to destroy the CNG sector since years and CNG operators were being harassed as Punjab had been subjected to five-day gas load shedding which affects around 80 million people.
Paracha said some officials had made life of masses miserable in a bid to plunder the country.
“The leader of the CNG sector said that in the name of resolving energy crisis, tactics are being used for the personal welfare of very few individuals, which has damaged the credibility of the elite,” he said. Ghiyas Paracha demanded reversal of all the anti-CNG moves, abandoning of projects which benefited the elite and reduction of gas load shedding duration in Punjab.
