A local jirga on Sunday sold a woman after she was declared Kari. The woman, Zarina Mai, was a mother of three children.
According to details, Zarina Mai was accused of having extra-marital relations by her brother-in-law, Imam Buksh Jandani. She was declared Kari and was sold out through a jirga decision.
Her brother, Muhammad Ali, hailing from Chat Dagar area in the jurisdiction of Choti Police station, alleged that police were not arresting the accused despite the local court’s order.
A large number of relatives of the woman and her three children staged a protest outside the RPO office and demanded recovery of the victim and suspension of policemen.
Why the brother in law is not punished?
I think all the members of JIRGA must be put in jail for this decision. Their punishment should be fifty yrs in solitary confinement. This will give them time to think about their decision .
