The 5th international maritime conference (IMC-2013) concluded here on Thursday after an open discussion by groups representing security, economy and environment departments.
They evaluated and reassessed modalities which came under discussions during the conference on ‘regional maritime security dynamics, imperatives and inter-dependencies’.
The conference was organised under the auspices of National Centre for Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR) of Bahria University.
Talking to the audience, Chief Guest Commander, Turkish Naval Force Admiral, Emin Murat Bilgel, pointed out all the aspects concerning security threats, their adverse impacts on the global trade and commerce and finally they highlighted need for the concerted efforts and coordinated strategic plan to deal with the issues.
The chief guest also distributed prizes among the students who won the essay and poster competitions held along with the conference. The students were commended by Commander Bilgel, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral M Asif Sandila NI (M) and Director General NCMPR Vice Admiral (r) Asaf Humayun for their creativity and hard work.
The NCMPR has the honour of hosting four international maritime conferences since its birth.
It provides a seat of excellence for maritime policy research and a ‘think-tank’ for multi-disciplinary studies and analysis of maritime affairs to seek guidelines for solution to the existing challenges in the maritime domain.
