Army ready to help civil admin for Karachi peace: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani on Wednesday said the Pakistan Army was ready to provide assistance to the civil administration to bring peace to Karachi.
The COAS said this at a briefing at the Corps Headquarters Karachi regarding law and order in the city.
According to sources, General Kayani said the Pakistan Army was prepared to tackle the internal and external threats to national security. The army chief expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in Karachi.
General Kayani said Karachi was the economic hub of the country and the enemies of the country were targeting the Quaid’s city to damage the country. He said it was the foremost duty of the army to safeguard the solidarity of the country and the army will fulfill this responsibility.
Earlier, when General Kayani arrived at the Corps Headquarters Karachi, he was received by Corps Commander Karachi Lt General Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry. The corps commander and other army officers briefed the army chief about the situation in Karachi.

    You should resign and go home! But then none of you have ever done that!

    Did you ever realize how many deserving generals careers you hurt by accepting extension!
    Was this to give protection to Zardari?

    BTW people want to know, how much is Zardari paying you and your brothers?

    • You are absolutely right, Hundreds of people were killed, where was this idea to bring army in the city. Now they are realizing to bring So called peace in the city, They are responsible of these killings and kidnapping of innocent people of Karachi.

      May Allah Help us all from these dictators.

  2. The remark by ‘outraged’ is rather harsh and also inappropriate because the army chief said on many occasions that civilian administration can call the army for help, but the civilian government did not do so.

    I think the civilian government’s problem is that calling the army would mean that the civilian administration has failed and even though it is common knowledge that the civilian administration has failed completely, they do not want this fact to be documented, and definitely not just before the elections, because their opponents will play it up resulting in a loss of votes for the Peoples Party, which is about all they seem to be concerned about.

    Civilian government’s seriousness on Karachi situation can be gauged by the fact that they do not consider it necessary even to appoint a full-time interior minister for the province and feel confident that a part-timer can and is handling it well.
